Young is also the director of a number of independently-produced films in the country, including the Sundance favorite The Freebie, starring DaxShepard and A Country Remedy starring Joshua Leonard which she helped create filming for in her state of North Carolina. She also made some independent films like The Freebie featuring Dax Shepherd and A Country Remedy with Joshua Leonard. The film was shot and filmed it all at North Carolina. Young started a diverse and extensive career in television after moving to LA. Young's first album Far Away So Close was made available on iTunes May 15th of this year. In 2016 she starred in the crime drama film The Night Stalker directed by Megan Griffiths about the serial killer Richard Ramirez. Following that she starred in a supporting character alongside Jim Rash and David Koechner in independent comedy Bernard and Huey. In 2018, she starred in Disney's live-action adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time alongside Oprah Winfrey Reese Witherspoon Mindy Kaling.
